Let’s take a trip back to 1994.
Netscape was giving the world it’s first widely accessible browser. “Friends” made it’s debut. Countless lovelorn high school students were putting “Wonderwall” on mixtapes.
It was also the year Herman Miller released the Aeron chair. Ubiquitous in homes and offices worldwide, it’s easy to forget that until ‘94. no one had ever seen anything like it: cushioning was abandoned in favor of Pellicle mesh, pulled taut over an otherworldly-looking frame. Adjustments that conform to the body, increasing comfort and health in a way that had never before been in the office. As task chairs go, it’s truly revolutionary.
All the amazing new task chairs getting released today owe it to the standards set by the Aeron. To celebrate, check out this fantastic retrospective and share your thoughts below on how the workday has changed…and where it’s going.
